    @JwSchmidt That could work... though unless Pallis is part of the rest of the series (which I haven't read yet, but I suspect not.) I'm thinking Kersen's "date" with her perfectly sets up a twist that she staged the kidnapping and *she* is actually Malagate.

      @JwSchmidt That said, a brilliant female IPCC officer *pursuing* Gersen would be an interesting addition to the story, and... argh, wait, this is starting to sound a liiiiiittle like Altered Carbon.

        @JwSchmidt That said, unless you're working the twist where Gersen underestimates Pallis/Malagate because of sexism (which maybe is obvious and boring too, I dunno), then yes, I'd definitely be changing the gender of various characters.
