@IsasV Congratulations! A good advisor is worth their weight in gold, just as a bad one is worth his weight in lead. Mine for my M.A. was... well, technically my advisor, I suppose. I got feedback on punctuation.

@IsasV He was also sort of a ringleader for lots of toxic stuff in the department: thestar.com/news/canada/2018/01/12/the-interest-is-in-sex-not-writing-says-one-concordia-creative-writing-grad.html That wasn't exactly a secret at the time, either. I saw him hit on students at one or two parties.

@IsasV (To be clear, we didn't know quite how bad it was: most of us assumed it was more a schtick/sleazy joke or something, than some of the really awful stuff mentioned in the article. Whether people were warned about him like I was warned about Monty Floyd in 1st year, I dunno.)

@IsasV I only ended up working with him (Rob, not Monty—the latter was gone by my time) because everyone insisted the *other* fiction major prof would *never* work with a genre fiction writer. Should've asked the other guy anyway. *shrug* It was an incredibly disappointing experience.
