@MarieMyungOkLee That's nonsense. Resident non-Koreans are ~4% of the total population, and only a handful have been found having broken quarantine. Many more Koreans have broken quarantine throughout. Racist news reportage (as always) creates the impression it's a "foreigner problem."

@MarieMyungOkLee It's the same thing with xenophobic crime reportage here. The newspapers love to report that "foreigner crime is a growing problem." They never pause to mention that the current rate is higher, but (in almost all categories) lower than the national average.

@MarieMyungOkLee Anyway: no, foreigners are *not* "more likely than Koreans" to break quarantine. Note: some SE Asian migrant laborers were not permitted by their (abusive) employers to keep quarantine (or get tested when ill.) Some Western dumbasses did break quarantine. But not "more likely."

@MarieMyungOkLee And to be honest, most of the "illegal parties" I heard about during the pandemic involved Koreans gathering with extended family for grandparents' birthday parties and the like, in numbers that violated public health management policies that were in place at the time.

@MarieMyungOkLee (Some foreign students did flout policies in some places, especially Seoul. But that was exaggerated—and Koreans doing the same were ignored—to paint the usual xenophobic picture of irresponsible foreigners. It's what Korean media literally always does.)

@MarieMyungOkLee Also, for the commenter who equated foreigners with "colonizers": not really. 🙄 Many non-Koreans living here are effectively immigrants, and they face plenty of the same kinds of marginalization and exclusion immigrants face anywhere. (The majority aren't even Western or white.)
