    @IsasV I mean, there's a difference between free speech and legislation. But the reality is the government's always had limits on freedom of expression. Peterson was basically bullshitting when he suggested he could end up in jail... unless he was calling for genocide of trans people.

      @IsasV The biggest self-contradiction, though, is how many free speech grifters are censorious themselves. Peterson jabbers about free speech... and then lawyers up to go after people who criticize him in private meetings that were never intended to be aired publicly.(Shepard's tape)

        @IsasV It's a pretty pronounced pattern, too: the people most obsessed with free speech often lawyer up to silence others when it suits them. "You're defaming me by stating your opinions!" (Er... but you're not insulting people by insisting on gendering them according to your opinion?)

          @IsasV It's all very simple: don't be an asshole. The muddle, deep down, isn't politics: it's that people who enjoy being assholes know they can't admit that's the main point: "I have a right to be a fucking asshole to whoever I disapprove of!"
