    @mcjulie Definitely. I had the same kind of realization when I escaped the clutches of the Roman Pontiff. Ha! (And yes, a *lot* of what I saw people doing when they were "being Catholic" looked like intensive LARP. And, most notably, not practicing what they preached.)

      @mcjulie At some point, I realized, "Oh, you actually don't believe most of this stuff literally, do you?" Because really, if you believe eternal damnation awaits, it's *easy* not to cheat on your spouse, embezzle from your employer, or whatever. Which why the LARP analogy comes to mind.
